Our Team

All our eye operations are undertaken by consultant ophthalmic surgeons, with a wide range of ophthalmic experience and expertise. On average, each surgeon has 20 years experience of performing cataract surgery.

If you have had previous eye conditions or surgery you may have been cared for by one of the Eastern Surgery team in an NHS hospital. You may wish to be treated by the same surgeon again and we can arrange that for you at Nuffield Hospital in Ipswich or BMI St Edmunds Hospital in Bury St Edmunds dependant on which surgeon you request. Mr Clive Edelsten

Mr Clive Edelsten
Trained at Cambridge University and the Middlesex Hospital, London and qualified as a consultant in 1993. His special interest is in ocular inflammatory disease and laser treatment of age-related maculopathy. He has wide experience in the surgery of complicated cataracts associated with uveitis and runs the supra regional service for children with these conditions at Great Ormond Street.

Mr Richard Goble

Mr Richard Goble
Undertook his ophthalmology training at St Bartholomews and St Thomas Hospital, London and the Birmingham Midland Eye Hospital. He has been working as an NHS consultant since 1997. Mr. Goble has extensive experience in managing complex cataract procedures.

Mr Simon Hardman Lea

Mr Simon Hardman Lea
Trained in ophthalmology in Oxford and St Thomas and Moorfields Eye Hospitals in London. He has been a consultant in Ipswich since 1994, with particular interests in ocular surface disease and surgery to the front of the eye.

Mr Roger Lewis

Mr Roger Lewis
Trained as an ophthalmologist and commenced as a consultant in Ipswich NHS Trust in 1982. He has extensive ophthalmology experience at consultant level and also specialises in ocular plastic surgery and ophthalmic diabetic disease.

Kiran Sinha

Kiran Sinha
Commenced her career as a dispensing optician in 1984. She then graduated in 1991 gaining a BSc (Hons) in ophthalmic optics from Glasgow. In 1998 she joined the team in Ipswich where she has been practising as an optometrist alongside Adrian Faulkner and the ophthalmologists.

Adrian Kite

Adrian Kite
Undertook his Optometry training at the University of Wales, Cardiff, graduating with First class honours. He has been part of the Ophthalmology team in Ipswich since 1999, alongside his work in private practice.

Guy Marshall

Guy Marshall
Graduated from Aston University in 1978 with a BSc (Hons) in Optometry. Guy has been working within private practice and within the Eye Service at Ipswich Hospital. He is currently undertaking a Further and Additional Supply qualification.

Sarah Owen
Sarah graduated from Aston University in Birmingham in 2004 and after that completed a training year at Ipswich Hospital. Sarah then worked for two years in private practice before becoming a self-employed Optometrist in 2007. She now works at a number of practices in the region as well as at the Nuffield in Ipswich.
